Both women were healed by faith. The hemmoraging woman by her own faith in fear and trembling, "If I but touch the hem of his garment."

And the Centurion's daughter by Jairus' faith, "Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but say the word and my child will be healed."

I am always so moved by the story of the woman only touching Jesus with faith.

May we all foster the virtue of faith in the little things we do every day: The Sign of the Cross, slowly and with faith.

Genuflecting to the tabernacle when one comes into the church and THINKING about the presence of Christ and why we genuflect.

Bowing before receiving Communion.

After Communion, if we sing, sing to praise the Lord, not to join the choir in an exhibition/entertainment mode.

When we go to Adoration do the double genuflection. And think about how you would act in front of Jesus in person, for He is indeed present in the consecrated bread in the monstrance. (Ever wonder why it doesn't fade away/detriorate?)

Vespers -- Evening Prayer

Vespers (Evening Prayer)

O God, come to my aid.
O Lord, make haste to help me.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
 world without end.
Amen. Alleluia.

A suitable hymn may be inserted at this point.

Psalm 109 (110)
The Messiah, king and priest
The Lord has said to my lord: “Sit at my right hand while I make your enemies into your footstool”.

From Sion the Lord will give you a sceptre, and you will rule in the midst of your foes.
Royal power is yours in the day of your strength, glorious and holy; from the time of your birth, before the dawn.

The Lord has sworn, and he will not repent: “You are a priest for ever, a priest of the priesthood of Melchisedech”.
The Lord is at your right hand, and on the day of his anger he will shatter kings.

He will judge the nations, he will pile high their skulls;
he will drink from the stream as he goes – he will hold his head high.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
 world without end.
Amen.

Psalm 113A (114)
Israel set free from Egypt
When Israel came out of Egypt, Jacob’s people from a land of strangers,
Judah became his sanctuary and Israel his domain.

The sea saw it, and fled; the Jordan flowed backwards at the sight;
the mountains leapt like rams; the hills, like yearling sheep.

Sea, what was it, what made you flee? And you, Jordan, why did you flow uphill?
Mountains, why did you leap like rams? Hills, like yearling sheep?

Tremble, Earth, at the presence of the Lord, the presence of the Lord of Jacob,
who has turned the rock into a pool of water and made a fountain out of the flint.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
 world without end.
Amen.

Canticle Apocalypse 19
The wedding of the Lamb
Alleluia.
Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, because his judgements are true and just.
Alleluia.

Alleluia.
Praise our God, all his servants, and you who fear him, small and great.
Alleluia.

Alleluia.
For the Lord reigns, our God, the Almighty: let us rejoice and exult and give him glory.
Alleluia.

Alleluia.
The marriage of the Lamb has come, and his spouse has made herself ready.
Alleluia.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
 world without end.
Amen.
A short Bible reading and responsory may follow here.
Canticle Magnificat
My soul rejoices in the Lord
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
and my spirit rejoices in God, my salvation.
For he has shown me such favour –
 me, his lowly handmaiden.
Now all generations will call me blessed,
because the mighty one has done great things for me.
His name is holy,
his mercy lasts for generation after generation
 for those who revere him.

He has put forth his strength:
he has scattered the proud and conceited,
 torn princes from their thrones;
 but lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things;
the rich he has sent away empty.

He has come to the help of his servant Israel,
he has remembered his mercy as he promised to our fathers,
to Abraham and his children for ever.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
 world without end.
Amen.

Some short prayers may follow here, to offer up the day's work to God.
Our Father, who art in Heaven,
 hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
 and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those that trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
 but deliver us from evil.
A concluding prayer may follow here.

May the Lord bless us and keep us from all harm; and may he lead us to eternal life.
A M E N

Meditation
Wisdom 1:13-15; 2:23-24

God did not make death. (Wisdom 1:13)

Isn’t it amazing? No matter how “religious” this statement sounds, it still manages to ring true in the heart of every person, no matter what their religious or philosophical background. Somehow, we all sense that death is opposed to the goodness, the eternity, and the love that are at the heart of who God is. We don’t need theological training or religious instruction to sense this. We simply know that death could not possibly have come from God. No, death entered the world because of our own sin, and in his goodness God has granted us a way out of death.

Above all other truths, God is good. Everything he does is right and just. Even when our first parents sinned, he didn’t abandon them but clothed them himself, protecting them against the hardships they faced apart from his presence. How could a God who acts with such compassion have been responsible for death?

What’s more, God’s goodwill doesn’t just come to us at the end of our days. His kindness lasts throughout our lifetime. Through his Holy Spirit, he gives us power in our weakness, and increases the strengths and talents that we have. Ever patient with us, he does not always reproach, nor is he always angry with us. No, with overflowing compassion, he gathers us to himself and heals as he corrects. He teaches even as he reproves. Like a perfect parent, he is always seeking our best interests, helping us to grow more fully into his own image and likeness.

Brothers and sisters, we have a good God indeed! In everything we do, he goes ahead of us. He surrounds every part of our lives and holds us in the palm of his hand—and absolutely no one can steal us away! On this day of sabbath rest and rejoicing, let’s worship him with our whole hearts:

“Blessed Father, you are love itself! Every good and perfect gift comes from you, and you shower us with these gifts every day of our lives. You are God, not of the dead but of the living. Lord, we want to be alive in you forever!”

Psalm 30:2,4-6,11-13; 2 Corinthians 8:7,9,13-15; Mark 5:21-43

CONTAGIOUS

"Healing power had gone out from Him." —Mark 5:30

According to the Old Testament, you would become unclean if a hemorrhaging person touched you (Lv 15:25-33). If you touched a dead person, you would also become unclean (Nm 19:11ff). An unclean, defiling power seemed to come forth from the bleeding or dead.

However, when Jesus was touched by or touched the unclean, an unclean power did not defile Him. Instead, His healing, life-giving power went out from Him and made the unclean clean. Unlike everyone else, Jesus is contagious in the good sense.

For instance, if you put a healthy person in a room of sick people, do all the sick people catch health or does the healthy person get sick? Do live people visiting a cemetery raise the dead or eventually join the dead? Sickness and death are contagious but health and life are not — except in Jesus.

When Jesus entered this sick, dying world, millions of people caught health and life. The evil effects of sin still spread like the plague, but contagious grace far surpasses it (Rm 5:20). Live with Jesus; eat His body and drink His blood (Jn 6:56); let Him touch you; catch abundant life (Jn 10:10).

Prayer: Jesus, touch me and make me whole.
Promise: "Your plenty at the present time should supply their need so that their surplus may one day supply your need, with equality as the result." —2 Cor 8:14
Praise: Praise Jesus, Who is the Resurrection and the Life (Jn 11:25) and Who has given us life everlasting! Those who believe in Him will live forever (Jn 11:26). Alleluia!

Compline -- Night Prayer

Compline (Night Prayer)

O God, come to my aid.
O Lord, make haste to help me.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
 world without end.
Amen. Alleluia.

This is an excellent moment for an examination of conscience. In a communal celebration of Compline, one of the penitential acts given in the Missal may be recited.

A suitable hymn may be inserted at this point.

Psalm 90 (91)
The protection of the Most High
He will shade you with his wings; you will not fear the terror of the night. Alleluia.
He who lives under the protection of the Most High
dwells under the shade of the Almighty.
He will say to the Lord:
“You are my shelter and my strength,
my God, in whom I trust”.

For he will free you from the hunter’s snare,
from the voice of the slanderer.
He will shade you with his wings,
you will hide underneath his wings.
His faithfulness will be your armour and your shield.
You will not fear the terror of the night,
 nor the arrow that flies by day;
nor the plague that walks in the shadows,
nor the death that lays waste at noon.

A thousand will fall at your side,
at your right hand ten thousand will fall,
but you it will never come near.
You will look with your eyes
and see the reward of sinners.
For the Lord is your shelter and refuge;
you have made the Most High your dwelling-place.
Evil will not reach you,
 harm cannot approach your tent;
for he has set his angels to guard you
and keep you safe in all your ways.

They will carry you in their arms
in case you hurt your foot on a stone.
You walk on the viper and cobra,
you will tread on the lion and the serpent.

Because he clung to me, I shall free him:
I shall lift him up because he knows my name.
He will call upon me and for my part, I will hear him:
I am with him in his time of trouble.
I shall rescue him and lead him to glory.
I shall fill him with length of days
 and show him my salvation.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
 world without end.
Amen.
He will shade you with his wings; you will not fear the terror of the night. Alleluia.

Reading Apocalypse 22:4-5
They will see the face of the Lord, and his name will be marked on their foreheads. There will be no more night: they will not need sunlight or lamp-light, because the Lord God himself will shine upon them. And they will reign for ever and ever.

Short Responsory ?
Into your hands, Lord, I commend my spirit.
- Into your hands, Lord, I commend my spirit.
You have redeemed us, Lord, God of faithfulness.
- Into your hands, Lord, I commend my spirit.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
- Into your hands, Lord, I commend my spirit.

Canticle Nunc Dimittis
Keep us safe, Lord, while we are awake, and guard us as we sleep, so that we can keep watch with Christ and rest in peace. Alleluia.
Now, Master, you let your servant go in peace.
 You have fulfilled your promise.
My own eyes have seen your salvation,
which you have prepared in the sight of all peoples.
A light to bring the Gentiles from darkness;
the glory of your people Israel.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
 world without end.
Amen.
Keep us safe, Lord, while we are awake, and guard us as we sleep, so that we can keep watch with Christ and rest in peace. Alleluia.

Prayer
Let us pray.
Today we have celebrated the mystery of the Christ’s resurrection, and so now we humbly ask you, Lord, that we may rest in your peace, far from all harm, and rise rejoicing and giving praise to you.
Through Christ our Lord, Amen.

May the almighty Lord grant us a quiet night and a perfect end.
A M E N
An antiphon to Our Lady should be recited here.
