"The problem with Christianity is not that it has been tried and found wanting, but that it has been found difficult, and left untried."

Good article. It's strange how much trouble people have dealing with Jesus. They find it hard to accept Him and hard to reject Him, and so they change Him.

Like many of Jesus' other ideas, these claims are clearly "incorrect," politically and socially. Worse still, they're unpopular!

He wasn't terribly popular in his time, at least with some. We shouldn't be surprised he's still unpopular today. Truth tends to be intimidating, especially to such imperfect beings as humans.

climaxing in His own bodily resurrection (Matthew 12:39, 40).

Back beyond some point in time, ancients viewed dying about the way we view moving from Washington D.C. to Baltimore or some such, 50 miles down the road. It clearly did not mean you'd never see the other person again. There are a handful of such stories in the bible aside from Christ, the most interesting of which is probably the tale of Saul and Samuel and the witch of Endor.

At the time of Christ, it had clearly been several centuries since anybody had seen such a thing and it hasn't been seen since. Whatever else Christ was, he was a messenger, and the message, aside from morality, was: don't listen to the atheists and materialists; they don't know what they're talking about.
