I left the ECUSA years ago, when I was thirteen. After I discovered the Catholic Church it was no contest. Our rector, a very good orthodox Christian man, came to our house to try to talk me out of leaving. I bet he is rolling in his grave now. The next rector of the parish was none other than the infamous Spong.

You left just before the heathen Spong?! Count your blessings! I left the ECUSA after the August '03 fiasco. The rector of my former parish was/is a good man, and understood why I left. I don't know what he'd think of this, but if I was still in the ECUSA, he'd certainly know what I think about it. My former rector didn't try to talk me out of leaving, as I'd been dropping hints to him for at least 2-3 years that if I did end up leaving, it would be because the "bishops" did something or voted on something that would push me out the door, and that was exactly how it happened.
