The notion that the Da Vinci code is specifically directed at Roman Catholics does not seem valid.

The book and the movie make the claim that the Catholic Church has been hiding the "truth." A recognized Catholic organization is specifically slandered. Sounds specifically anti-Catholic to me.

And only a very few Protestants, who might just be cult members.

I could not disagree more with this statement. Are you saying few Protestants are protesting or upset by this travesty, or that all Protestants are cult members or both? I will give you the benefit of the doubt and add or is it none of the above?

Many Protestants are protesting and very unhappy about this smear on the Lord.

When I think of all the things I regret in my life, they were things where I may have left another soul with the wrong thinking regarding anything concerning God. Either by behavior or flippant remark or unknown observation in my behavior or a errant slip of my tongue.

Funny thing is that I don't sense any remorse in folks like Tom Hanks or Ron Howard. Man, I wouldn't want to be in their shoes.

The Da Vinci Code is not a hit on the existence of God in general. The only religions "of the book" that came out looking like they make any sense from this fictional propaganda are the Jewish religion and the Muslim religions.

To but it quite crudely and simplistically, a hit on the Catholic Church is a hit on the Protestant Church since the later is based on the Catholic beliefs minus the middle man (priests and tradition).

Of course Jews and Muslims should be aware that there is an anti-religious faction that would bring down all religions by making them all look "unsubstantiated" by "fact" in the end.

In the final analysis, all that needs to be remembered is that one man's fact is another man's fiction.

Jesus wasn't sent to earth to start a family; he was sent to save the family of mankind. That was his mission.

It is difficult to see that the Da Vinci code is anti-Catholic. It has been accepted Christian dogma for 1700 years that Jesus is equally man and equally divine. As presenting the idea that Jesus had a human side would thus seem to be standard theology.

I only have time to make a brief comment because I am about to dash off. The DaVinci Code is set in the Vatican, the home of Catholicism. Jesus' human side is presented as a heresy -- that he married Mary Magdalene. No denomination believe that.

I have not seen Orthodox Christians, Mormons, Moonies, or Copts objecting to the Da Vinci code movie. And only a very few Protestants, who might just be cult members.

Christian television (TBN in particular) and radio has devoted a considerable amount of time to debunking the Da Vinci code.

It is a bad book. It is apparently a worse film. How much power do we give to it by taking it seriously?
