With 18 days (as I write this) until General Convention, I'm suspending new posts on anthills until after the convention.
A writing project for G.C. will take up my extra time. Duties as a parish rector continue. And the essential things have been said by all sides.
Two items sealed up the need to write more now. One was the Position Statement by the bishops of the Anglican Communion Network. Questions about their use of "reverse/reversal" were answered by Matt Kennedy. The bishops are asking for a "reversal of the precedent" set by the consecration of Gene Robinson.
I agree with the Network spokesperson that we have reached the point of no return.
This leads to my second item pointing toward my hiatusthe exchange between Kendall Harmon and Susan Russell. Harmon, at Titusonenine, analyzed an interview with Bishop Alexander. Russell, President of Integritythe main gay advocacy group in ECUSA, took issue on her blog. Harmon replied in terms that spell things out as well as I've seen.
I'm going to rework the righ-hand column (on an "under construction" basis) to serve as an index to some documents and analysis that may be helpful to orthodox Bishops and Deputies to General Convention.
At the head of the column is a link to the petition to the House of Bishops that, as of today, has been signed by 967 priests! I've signed it. Help put it over 1,000 by May 31. Have you asked your priest to sign?
The time for more words is fading; now it is time to decide. I continue in earnest prayer for General Convention. I'm clear that my future in this church depends on its decisions.
