VirtueOnline announces team of reporters for GC2006

WEST CHESTER, PA: (5/16/2006)--VirtueOnline (VOL), Anglican News Service has joined forces with several writers, reporters and commentators to bring its readers thorough coverage of the Episcopal Church's General Convention in Columbus, Ohio, June 13 - 21. All have been accredited.

David W. Virtue, president of VirtueOnline, the Anglican Communion's largest, most widely read orthodox Anglican Online News Service with over three million readers in 45 countries.

Hans Zeiger, 22, is a conservative activist, reporter and columnist from Puyallup, Washington. Once called one of the most opinionated teenagers in America, Hans writes a column that appears in RenewAmerica, the Seattle Sentinel, WorldNetDaily.com, GOPUSA.com, OpinionEditorials.com, Sierra Times, American Daily, America's Voices, The Right Report, and other publications. Hans is a freelance columnist for the Seattle Times NEXT page. He has written articles for the San Francisco Chronicle, Philadelphia Daily News, Baltimore Sun, Insight, Birmingham News, Conservative Battleline, Wisconsin State Journal, Tacoma News Tribune, The New American, and Townhall.com. He is also the author of two books. Zeiger also is the president of the Scout Honor Coalition, a network dedicated to countering politically correct attacks on the Boy Scouts.

Auburn Faber Traycik, editor, The Christian Challenge magazine, published since 1962 and the only independent hardcopy publication offering orthodox believers a broad range of news on the Anglican communion. VOL reports during the convention will also be made available on TCC's website to expand coverage. Based in Washington, DC, Mrs. Traycik has been reporting on Anglican affairs for 20 years.

The Rev. Dr. Peter Toon, president of the Prayer Book Society, an authority on Anglicanism's peerless liturgist, Thomas Cranmer, and one of the world's leading reformed catholic thinkers. He is a Yorkshireman and Oxford University graduate who has held ecclesiastical positions in both the Church of England and the Episcopal Church USA. He is knowledgeable on church affairs on both sides of the Atlantic and is the author of several books. He writes prolifically and is a featured columnist on the cyber pages of VOL. He will assist in interpreting events as they unfold at General Convention. He is based in Seattle, Washington.

Robert Turner, VOL's webmaster will facilitate and coordinate daily reports and digests. Stories will be posted daily to the website (www.virtueonline.org) with a digest of stories sent out to our email list every two days. He is based in Virginia. While neither the Archbishop of Canterbury nor a delegation from the Panel of Reference will be in attendance at GC2006, this convention will be the most watched in North American religious life and witnessed by millions of Anglicans worldwide, tens of thousands of priests and hundreds of bishops from the Global South.

In the wake of ECUSA’S serious deviations from Anglican Communion sexuality policy, including the approval and consecration of gay cleric Gene Robinson as Bishop of New Hampshire, the U.S. church's future and standing within the Communion are on the line at this General Convention. The response it gives to the wider Communion will be critical to Anglican Primates (Provincial leaders) in determining whether or not ECUSA has separated from the rest of the global church.

This convention will be a make or break time for tens of thousands of orthodox Episcopalians.

There's going to be a lot of stuff written, and posted, and thus a lot of reading to do..have you thought of how you're considering handling it? Maybe, instead of posting a whole slew of separate articles, we do a daily thread for each day of GC2006, and people can post their comments, articles, and/or links to articles they've read..this way we'd have more of an organic thread for daily discussion..

Just my two cents worrh

I'm already near my limit; posting takes a long time (as evidenced that the time required to post the day's articles increases by only maybe 50% when done via slow dialup as opposed to broadband) and have considered something like this for the list in general.

But during GenCon2006, yes, that would be a good solution.
