I would venture to guess that your friends learned Chinese and translate the Scripture. Unless they're only ministering to the Chinese who speak English.

Don't get me wrong. I love the KJV. I grew up with. It's just simply not the only valid translation.

What is with the straw man arguments?

No one is saying the King James is the only valid translation, but the correct translation must come from the TR/Massoratic texts and the King James is the standard by which all other translations are to be judged.
