I'm behind in this discussion, but that hasn't stopped me before from tossing out extraneous, often random opinions.
Re: the new Bible versions. I do not agree with Gail Riplinger about many things, her Arminianism and dispensationalism being two biggies.
However, she is generally on target regarding the reasons for the past century's Bible versions. To understand what's been going on we need to look at the times in which the newer versions were being developed and where -- England at the turn of the century was rife with spiritualism and theosophical leanings. Westcott and Hort were two very nefarious characters. If more Christians studied them and the waters in which they swam, more Christians would be hip to the reasons for the downgrade of Scripture and thus, our society.
While some of the sites may seem somewhat reactionary, the truth is out there. Google "Westcott and Hort" and "the Ghost Society."
Here's an excellent site which contains a lot of good information. I don't endorse all of it, but as intelligent FReepers, we should be able to glean and sift. Eventually, patterns emerge.
And from this site there is this chapter...
Keep in mind that people who want a scholarly career must toe the company line to the accepted explanation of most everything for them to advance in that career. Otherwise, they are weeded out of the system.
And the lies perpetuate themselves into fact.
