Well, then, it's *certain* that the KJV had the poorest textual basis of any major English-language translation within the last 400 years.

Totally incorrect.

So you are your own final authority regarding the Word of God?

Was King James the final authority on the Word of God?

Did you know that the 1611 KJV contained the Apocrypha?

See...there it is -- an explanation that puts all the other possibilities to rest.

All the guy asked was why you use "dude" and "babe."

It's a fair question.

How about the fact that I am a writer, from the South...

"dude" and "babe" are not, I repeat not southron forms of familiarity.

No.

I wanted to know why he wanted to know. It's a fair question.

Did he write the Bible? No.

Then why on earth would you pick the KJV as being "the Bible". It was authorized by him. You KJV onlyers seem to think that the authorization came from God himself. Well it didn't. It came from another corrupt King in a corrupt nation on a corrupted earth.

The same people who translated the 1611 KJV also translated the Apocyrpha for the KJV. The KJV Translators admitted that they were mere men and that their translation is simply the best they could do. So the KJV is no more the Bible than the NKJV or the Geneva Bible of the Tyndale Bible or the Wycliffe Bible. They all did the best with the material they had on hand.

BibChr uses the original manuscripts when he reads and inteprets the bible. He compares and contrasts the various manuscripts in order to as best as possible determine the exact wording of the original letters. Clearly the people in 1611 did not have all the translating tools and newly discovered manuscripts that are available to modern translators. And while many of the modern translators are pagan dogs, many of them are also committed christians who are determined to know the actual words of God and to convey those words to others through their translations.

What is the bible for the Germans? What is the Bible for the French? What is the Bible for the Spanish? King James did not authorize translations for them. Does God not love them as much as he loves the English?

Tho I almost never participate in the threads on the religious forum, I try to read most of them...

However, I thought I would participate here, to thank you for an explanation about the Bibles...I have always wondered why so many insist on using only the KJV...you have provided some background, and I appreciate it...thanks...

The "demeaning" shoe does fit as well, and if the shoe fits....

FC has said he uses those terms because he's southern.

Corin entered an objection straight from the Shenandoah Valley that southerners are not all that hot on using either "babe" or "dude." He does believe that Robert E. Lee was known to utter a few "y'alls."

Yah, but it has good rhythm and you can dance to it. Did you ever try to dance to "The Message"?

Not the French and maybe not the Spanish although they have a chance, but definitely the Germans because of Luther.

Ich habe die Luther Bibel auf e-sword.

Ich kann deutsches wenig lesen, aber ich kann nicht es sprechen. Wirklich, kann ich nicht Deutsches sehr gut sprechen. Ich studierte Deutsches für vier Jahre in der Schule.

Amazing, you took the words right out of my mouth. It's like a cross-country mind meld!
