Additional books on the Thirty-Nine Articles, now available online
Much to my pleased surprise, today I came across two books on the Thirty-Nine Articles that can be read online or downloaded. One of these is actually one that has been mentioned several times before here--the text by Bishop Edgar C.S. Gibson, with the edition being the first edition of 1896 that was published in two volumes. The other text on the Articles is one I have not seen before, although I have heard of it: Questions illustrating the Thirty-nine Articles of the Church of England : with proofs from scripture, and the primitive church, by Edward Bickersteth, which was published in 1849. Here are the links to these texts, and I really think these are very much worth a look:

Bickersteth's text
Gibson, volume 1
Gibson, volume 2

A note about the formats for these books: If you have a really good Internet connection these books are available in large PDF files which might be very serviceable for download to your hard drive. But if you have a slower Internet connection (I have DSL "Lite" which is nowhere near the speed of regular DSL or cable), you might take a look at the DjVu applet version for each book. I tried this using the Opera browser to read the Gibson texts and it worked very well.

Interestingly, Bickersteth's book is in a question and answer format, much like a catechism. If one is willing to take the time to read the questions and answers, this book might be quite helpful. From what I gather, Bickersteth wrote from an evangelical Anglican perspective.
