You'll get along much better here if you learn to refute a challenge with facts and not feelings. If you can't do that, then it is really in your own best interest to back off the posting for a while and observe until such time you can do that. You and I are not going to agree on spiritual issues. That is just the way it is.

You and I are not going to agree on spiritual issues. To date, we haven't discussed spiritual issues. We've had a good round of fundamentalism and legalism though.
I don't consider them the same.

You and I are not going to agree on spiritual issues. That is just the way it is. Nor do you have to. Heaven knows Corin and I have our disagreements - but, at the end of the day, even though heprobably thinks I'm a naive punk kid, we've been friends for close to 6 years since we've always respected each other and stuck up for one another.
We're not asking you to change any position; all we're suggesting is that you could show a lot more respect to those who disagree with you. It'll make your life around here much easier - and you just might pick up some new friends. I know I have.

Where the heck is that in the Bible?

Corin and I don't agree on spiritual issues at all but that doesn't mean we don't respect each other's Christianity. And like he said I don't think you've discussed spiritual issues at all. Just weird cultural issues. There is a difference you know.

I am all for modesty, but this guy is focused on all the wrong things. This article was a horrible Christian witness.I agree. It seems to me perhaps the author wants us all to wear togas.
It's worth remembering that in Jesus' time, anyone who wore pants (male or female) was considered a barbarian.

And when it comes to clothing why is it always a concern about what women wear? What about what men wear?

Well, I will agree that these days I see more girls in skanky clothes than guys in skanky clothes. And I guess girls don't get as turned on by guys in muscle shirts as they do by girls in belly shirts.

My own independant surge as a teenager turned me into a legalistic hyper-fundamentalist. Boy did that screw me up. I think I'm still trying to find my equilibrium after that. Maybe you need to join a Calvoholics Anonymous 12-step program.

Maybe you need to join a Calvoholics Anonymous 12-step program. Calvinism had nothing to do with it; indeed, I was a hard-core anti-Calvinist, anti-Catholic, KJV-only nut. (Thank you, Dave Hunt (spit!))

Legalism is salvation through keeping laws or performing works like sacraments.
I personal believe in the opposite of legalism, salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
I don't believe that you and I have discussed that.

all we're suggesting is that you could show a lot more respect to those who disagree with you. Respect? Like pinging your posse any time someone disagrees with you and getting all your friends to post on a thread they otherwise never would of shown up on?
That kind of respect?

No, but you've brought up plenty with regard to dress, worship music, rock music, clothing and alcohol... Those are not issues concerned with salvation.
Legalism is having to keep a law, perform a work or sacrament to earn your salvation.
Discussing holy and Christian lifestyles as opposed to worldly lifestyles has noting to do with salvation.

Like pinging your posse any time someone disagrees with you and getting all your friends to post on a thread they otherwise never would of shown up on? Most of us would have eventually clicked the thread. It's not as though there are THAT many RF threads. Plus, you don't know how we operate. We tend to ping each other to LOTS of threads. I just pinged a bunch of friends (I think) to a thread discussing Reformed worship - even some non-reformed friends - because I thought they might be interested in what I had to say.
Remember - we've been here six years. We all know each other. There's a group norm here that says that pinging each other to threads of interest is normal. You gotta deal with that.

I don't think jude24 a 'naive punk'. Naive maybe, but not a punk. Give him a few years after law school and his naivete will be history.
To: JenB
that doesn't mean we don't respect each other's Christianity. Could you read his posts to me and tell me honestly if you believe he respects mine?
