GenCon 2006 looks to be a radical leftist bender:
The Episcopal Church must “expose and oppose gender violence and all forms of inequality in our midst,” according to the Committee on the Status of Women. The committee, whose mission is “to support and advise the Presiding Bishop on matters affecting the participation of women in the Church,” has proposed seven resolutions in its Blue Book report to General Convention.
Resolution A136 strongly encourages regular use of the liturgical resources in Enriching Our Worship on Sundays. “Enriching Our Worship uses expansive language and images of God that broaden our experience of the holy,” an explanation to the proposed resolution states. “More expansive language and images of God’s people allow more people to feel welcome and included in the worship life of the Church.”
Inclusive language? No. Inclusive pretty much everything.
Another resolution (A137) titled “Baptismal Equality Task Force” directs the Executive Council “to appoint a task force for interpreting our biblical and theological language and heritage about God and people in ways that include all those created in God’s image” and “offer guidelines to assure linguistic visibility in the everyday worship, music, education, preaching, written materials, and clip art used at the congregational, diocesan and national levels of the Episcopal Church.” The accompanying explanation states that “Inclusivity and equality are the common denominators in all of Jesus’ parables about the household (kingdom) of God. Today the Church is challenged to look at what it means to receive someone through baptism into the household of God and to include them fully into its life and ministry.”
Show a picture of King David at vacation Bible school and there better be a picture of Bathsheba right alongside looking empowered. And there better be the word "Sovereign" in front of both of their names. Moses is going to get a female associate he never knew he had. Oh and Fort Worth? You're in the crosshairs.
Dioceses that do not ordain women to the priesthood will again be “encouraged to provide for the ordination and exercise of priestly ministry by women in their dioceses,” according to Resolution A139.
Then there's the issue of money.
General Convention will be asked to address the retirement needs of female clergy in Resolution A140, which asks the Church Pension Group to consult with women clergy as they approach retirement. Typically women are paid less then men and in the Episcopal Church this affects the pension benefit available to women upon retirement, according to the Rev. Elizabeth Morris Downie, president of the Episcopal Women’s Caucus, one of 11 advocacy groups affiliated with the Episcopal Church that have formed a coalition called "The Consultation."
And now for the punchline.
“There is considerable disparity and it arises out of the continuing sexism of this Church,” Ms. Downie said.
That's going to leave a mark.
Traditional Anglican ping, continued in memory of its founder Arlin Adams. When was there ever institutional "gender violence" in the Episcopal Church? I never heard of it. That is just NONSENSE. What on earth are these people on that Committee on the Status of women talking about?
Since when has the word EQUALITY been changed from EQUITY? Men and women can't be equal because they aren't the same. With Mary the status of women was elevated beyond all possible means. She is the model we ought to emulate.
How much more "equal" to these committee members want women? Women are priests and bishops. Isn't that enough? What more is there? Will they be happy when the Archbishop of Cantebury is a woman? You KNOW that won't do make them satisfied. Their unhappiness is way to deep for that.
How can they be happy with MORE when they're not happy with what they have? They are unsatiable because the holes in their souls can only be filled with Jesus.....and they won't let Him in. They are too busy with this committee.
Personal opinion: I think that the Committee on the Status of Women has its head problems: head in the clouds, head in the sand or head up the butt.

The church teaches that Mary was conceived immaculately, but Joseph was conceived in sin. This is a disgusting example of sexist gender violence that must be eradicated at once. All members of ECUSA must campaign for the dogma of the Immaculate Conception of Joseph.

Hey, don't use the term "GenCon" to refer to the Episcopal General Convention; the name's already taken! :) It refers to the national role-playing game conference that occurs each year here in Indy. You had me scared!
