So were you saved by your belief (faith) or by your baptism (works)? It isn't an either/or proposition. According to Jesus it takes both. See Mark 16:16

And why now? Graham is in his twilight years. His years of ministry are basically over. What's the point of this? Because the author is so seculuded into cultural irrelevance, he thinks this screed is still relevant. As is usual with intolerant hyper-fundamentalists.

Hey, dear Sis, I agree.
BTW, Good weekend. Nothing too dramatic. Just some decent sharing and getting acquainted, PTL. Thanks for your prayers.

Sir Isaac Newton: "The Baptists are the only body of known Christians that have never symbolized with Rome." Why do I give a flying leap what Isaac Newton thought about the Baptists? He was a scientist, not a theologian or church historian. The aura surrounding Newton extends only to physics and calculus; on theology, Newton speaks as a layman with no particular expertise.
The simple fact of the matter is that the Baptists are derived from the Anabaptists, to be sure, but the Anabaptists didn't exist until after the Reformation. We even know the names of their leaders - Menno Simmons (i.e., the Mennonites).

Full, The thing that many hard-shell fundamentalists never seem to learn
is that you can be doctrinally sound on the fundamentals of the Christian faith,
but come off so judgmental and mean-spirited that you drive everybody away.
My counsel is to earnestly defend the faith but be careful who you swing that sword at--you may injure the innocent and overthrow the faith of others--PLUS all this rancor is destructive to those who may be on the threshold of faith.
A little wisdom is in order

When I noted that I believed that God would save the person who died in an auto accident on his way to baptism, the fellow was adament that God would not allow such a death. I knew of a specific case just like that. Here's the logic. If someone is REALLY on his way to be baptised, God will protect him. But if the person was really planning to stop for an ice cream cone, well, then all bets are off. So next time you see a wreck involving someone in baptismal robes, well, you know what they were really up to!
To: Ramius
It takes a special sort of arrogance to pick on a dying man at the end of his long and illustrious career. A career that needs no defense and stands well on its own.
The points throughout this screed have been utterly discredited
---
Much agree.

I probably meant to. . . . . ahhhhhh . . . and IF I understand anything about Bro Graham, he probably
meant to
say many things differently on reflection.
Sigh.
