Take it up with the Pope. I am obedient to the Church, and if they say it is Divine Mercy Sunday, I will observe it as such.
In case you haven't noticed, we don't get to vote, and people not in the Latin Rite aren't obigated to observe it. What then is your gripe? No one is forcing you to observe it.
Myself, I think that Christ's Divine Mercy is a cause for great joy.

Because we happen to be in communion with you, that's why.
It belongs in Lent or some other penitential season.

Absolutely! Methinks ignorance or sinfulness would keep one from seeing it otherwise. Cardinal Rigali gave a beautiful homily about Divine Mercy's perfect compliment to the celebration of the second Sunday of Easter. Think of how the sinful and cowardly Apostles were huddled in the locked room -- and Jesus' first words: "Peace be with you" -- His Mercy [shown them] *is* His Love -- the Love of Our Victorious Redeemer! He didn't lecture, or admonish, He showed His Mercy. Joy, indeed. Pax et bonum.
