Well, the joy of Easter was only made possible by the suffering and sacrifice Our Lord made on Good Friday. They are all of a piece. Easter means nothing without understanding the Passion. Divine Mercy reminds us that his sorrowful passion paid the price for us, and that the Resurrection demonstrated his triumph.
Go ahead with your nit-picking. I disagree, as I am sure you have realized.

It is a season of joy, not of sorrow. Jesus' death on the cross was not sorrowful, it was the veiled victory completed on the third day.
No, it is not nitpicking.
The feast should either be suppressed or translated to another day outside of Pascha.
