On "It's a River, Not a Pie" -- sermon by Episcopal candidate Bonnie Perrie

Bonnie Perry, the homosexual priest who is a candidate for Episcopal Bishop of San Francisco California, has a considerable advantage over the rest of the field.  Miss Perry is responsible for one of the most celebrated Christian sermons ever, "It’s an Earth Mover, Not a Ficus Plant" "It's a River, Not a Pie."  Here's a small taste:

Christianity. Not the Christianity that some would have us believe. It’s not the narrow, moralistic, judgmental, provincial ideology that some purport it to be. It’s not the constitutional amending, gay marriage-banning, if-you-love-another-adult-that-somehow-wrecks-who-I-love theology that some claim it to be.

The scriptural reality is that Christianity is first and foremost, not about keeping people out, it’s not about sending people away, it’s not about saying, "You can’t play." Christianity in its finest form is an open door and a warm hearth. It is a gracious host meeting us at the door and saying, "I’ve waited so long to see you. I am so happy you’re here. You know, I was hoping you’d stop by."

My second thought: It’s a river, not a pie! God’s love for us is not a 9-inch, deep-dish strawberry, rhubarb pie - as delectable as that might be. God’s love for us is a raging, roaring, rain-forest fed, class five river of grace. It is an ever-flowing stream of abundant love. God’s love for us is not limited. God’s love is not finite. It is not a pie that is whacked up and given out parsimoniously to the deserving. God’s love, God’s welcome, God’s grace is distributed recklessly washing over all in its path. God’s love is a river-not a pie.

Roll over Jonathan Edwards and tell Charles Spurgeon the news.  With sermons like "It’s a Spinach Lasagna, Not a Circular Saw" "It's a River, Not a Pie" in her arsenal, Miss Perry has to be considered the odds-on favorite to win San Francisco's California's big miter.  If she's even half as good as she is in "It’s a Tin of Anchovies, Not a Gutenberg Bible" "It's a River, Not a Pie," San Francisco California will be in very capable hands for many years to come.

I know it is very unfashionable in some churches, however, I will believe the Bible over the Bishop candidate.

With her sermon it is a wonder anyone goes to her church since she basically says "be all you can be and do whatever you want because no one won't be saved".

Can you imagine Jesus saying the following?... "Christianity in its finest form is an open door and a warm hearth (it is a frightening thing to fall into the hands of an angry God). It is a gracious host meeting us at the door and saying, "I’ve waited so long to see you in all your in-your-face Jesus, I'll behave however I want. I am so happy you’re here with all your degenerate behavior in tact and your pride at being such a degenerate urinating on my Word. You know, I was hoping you’d stop by because we do so need degenerates in God's presence, to lower His righteousness down to the degenerate's common denominator." ... No I can't imagine it either. God doesn't smile on that which He so thoroughly and clearly condemns. But I can easily imagine this woman's real god, the father of lies a murderer from the start, will say just such garbage regarding degeneracy.

I think the word is "confused." The Ten Commandments are pretty plain. I think Man and Woman are mentioned, not Significant Other of Either Gender. Most of "them" try to find a religion to fit their beliefs.
