Thanks for your service.
"Who's judging who?"
did you read post 2?
"Is anyone here going to say that pornography is a good thing, a positive development of the past 40 years? Apparrently it causes a lot of damage to people. It's one thing to say you have a "right" to it, but another thing if it takes over your life and ruins your life or marriage."
Only the people that make a lot of money from it. It not only damages relationships on those that watch it. It destroys the lives of the actors and actresses.
"Solomon didn't need porn, with all those wives he had."
Gore hadn't invented the internet yet.
The solution to his loneliness and unhappiness is God. But, with sex literally HARD-WIRED into both genders, especially in young men, it's a hard road to follow. Contentment and peace usually come with time, but meanwhile, pornography temporarily, though inadequately, fills a gap.
The worst danger of pornography is that satiation occurs rather quickly, so worse and worse pornography is viewed and becomes mundane. Therein lies the trap. Where and when does it ever stop?
The men and women who step in front of the camera are basically narcissistic exhibitionists, with rather large holes in their souls...no self respect. If one can't respect oneself, then one cannot love oneself. When one can't love self, then one can't love anyone else in the world.
Therein lies a lifetime of loneliness and unhappiness.
Looks like excellent advice to me, no kidding at all. Masturbation is profoundly immature sexuality -- the epitome of childish selfishness. Grown-up men ought to have mastery over themselves and be able to resist that temptation. A healthy marriage makes it much easier to resist, also.
You missed the memo, again! Because chastity is difficult and requires self-denial, we're supposed to ridicule anyone who suggests that we even attempt it.
Feeling a little guilty???
You can tell that the ship is taking on water when virtue is viewed as slavery, not as the necessary prerequisite to authentic freedom.
Has anyone ever been able to?
Very well put!
I'm having a hard time finding anything to disagree with in that post. It seems quite reasonable. Perhaps I'm missing your point?
Great article. Porn is paralyzing Christian men in every church.
Great posting Wagglebee
Thanks
I passed it along to the men in my bible study group.

To which the typical response will be "of course it's easy for women to refrain from masturbation, they don't care about sex in the first place."
"Rather than satisfying the man's sexual passion, it only serves to further ignite it."

I can agree with this. But eliminating this sort of thing must be done voluntarily, and not by government coersion. Your statement about libertarians is, in my opinion, rather foolish. It is like calling all people in favor of liberalizing drug laws 'pot heads', so those in favor of keeping porn legal must be 'porn freaks' or whathaveyou.
Most libertarians agree with social conservatives on the 'evil' nature of drugs and porn, however, they argue that increases in freedom will naturally yield to the slow dissolution of these vices, while goverment coersion will yield the opposite effect.
People must choose not to partake in these things, they cannot and should not be forced.
Then where do babies come from? :-)
I have no personal experience with being a woman.
But, to the extent that I know some things about them, that response would not appear to ... mmm ... comport well with reality ... shall we say ... [ahem]
Not your most articulate post.
When did we start talking about storks? :-)
