And your reply comparing them to a "married couple" follows the same thought.
I really don't see where I'm spinning the position. I really do not. Help me out with it.

You believe there is a father, son and holy spirit that makes up the Godhead. If you were to ask a Jew, or an aspiring Jew, if you were worshipping one God or three, then I'm pretty sure they would say "three" and accuse you of polytheism. So you get around this subscribing to a formulated belief that the three are one. You cannot explain exactly HOW the three are one, only that they are.

I believe that the Godhead in heaven is composed of two, the father and the son, and they are in perfect unity, one in purpose, joined in perfect love.

Joh 10:30 I and my Father are one.

The notion that coming together in love means "one" is expounded upon time after time:

Joh 17:11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.
Joh 17:20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
Joh 17:21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
Joh 17:22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
Joh 17:23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

Now when Jesus was praying to the father, he asked that his followers should "one", as he and his father are "one".

Joh 5:19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

Perfect unity.

Joh 12:49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

I prefer this event from the lips of Peter through the pen of Mark

Mar 12:29 Jesus answered, "The foremost is,
'HEAR, O ISRAEL! THE LORD OUR GOD IS ONE LORD;

Mar 12:30 AND YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART,
AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.'
[Deut. 6:4,5]

Mar 12:31 "The second is this, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.'[Lev. 19:18]
There is no other commandment greater than these."

Mar 12:32 The scribe said to Him, "Right, Teacher; You have truly stated
that HE IS ONE, AND THERE IS NO ONE ELSE BESIDES HIM;

Mar 12:33 AND TO LOVE HIM WITH ALL THE HEART AND WITH
ALL THE UNDERSTANDING AND WITH ALL THE STRENGTH,
AND TO LOVE ONE'S NEIGHBOR AS HIMSELF,
is much more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices."

Mar 12:34 When Jesus saw that he had answered intelligently, He said to him,
"You are not far from the kingdom of God."

Blessed Passover season.

thanks Doug, that helps.

It leaves only a couple of questions. Are the two of the Godhead, one in being and substance? And what of the Holy Spirit, is it part of the Godhead or something different altogether?

thanks again

What happened to the Holy Spirit? When Christ was being baptized the Father spoke from heaven and the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove descended upon Jesus. The three are seperat yet one. There has to be more than one for God to be true He places stipulations on us that He must follow Himself like it takes more than one to bare witness. and besides in Genesis the God Head say let us make man the word for God is 'elohiym (el-o-heem') which is the pural of ‘elowahh (el-o'-ah;) can you find the word elowahh in the bible?
