Blessed Are You

Blessed are You

If you have food in the refrigerator, cloths on your back, a roof over you head and a bed to sleep in, You are richer than 75% of the world’s population.

If you woke up this morning with more health than illness You are blessed more than the million who will not survive the week.

If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish, you are among the top 8% of the worlds wealthy.

If you attend a Christian church service without fear of harassment, arrest, torture or death you are more blessed than 3 billion people in the world.

If you have never experienced the dangers of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture or the pangs of starvation, you are more blessed than 500 million in the world.

If your parents are still alive and still married you are One of the blessed even in the USA.

If you can read this, you are more blessed than 2 billon in the world who can not read.

Now with that in mind, we who are so blessed should ask for forgiveness from God for our complaints of how bad we think we have it. We should praise and thank him for the great blessings he has bestowed upon us, and we should let others know about this and give Jesus the glory. So through your daily travels smile, give out kind uplifting words to those less fortunate, help how ever we can, to bless them with the love and the promise of salvation from Christ Jesus.

Wow, the antithesis to the Sermon On The Mount!

My thoughts as well. Materialism amd self-loathing are antithetical to what I believe to be "Blessings".

Expect this to go over the head of some here. Politics and capitalism are there religion, and low taxes and high GDP are what they consider God's blessings.

Very nice. A friend of mine also emailed me the music and graphics that accompany this saying.

So you're suggesting that high taxes and a low GDP are a sign of God's blessings?

Well said.

Unfortunately, many that are prospering don't REALLY consider those things to be blessings. They believe that they deserved their prosperity as a result of hard work, good timing, inheritance, etc. The One who controls the big water valve should always get the credit for anything good. (Most don't realize how close, last year, the cornbelt came to an enormous crop flop.)

May I ask where these startling figures came from?

"Expect this to go over the head of some here. Politics and capitalism are there religion, and low taxes and high GDP are what they consider God's blessings."

Over my head? Very patronizing. Very simplistic. Very annoying, as I am now forced to attempt to help you understand why you are simply not understanding what you are seeing.

To begin with, the wealth that we enjoy as a nation is the fruit of a free market economy. The poverty endured by other nations has its roots in corrupt political and economic systems.

Wealth and comfort are not necessarily "blessings". I have seen both to be a hindrance to salvation.

I am thankful to God for his provision for me and my family. I do not thank the stock market, and I do not thank my own ingenuity.

Low taxes and high productivity ARE a sign of God's blessing. Why is that so hard to understand? Do you think God condones theft and sloth?

Get over feeling guilty for enjoying the fruit of prosperity.

Job was blessed. Jesus was "homeless". John the baptist ate bugs and wore camel hair tunics - no caviar and silk to be found.

Maybe you need a refresher on the bible John 6:66

From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

Read the whole dissertation of this start around 6:24 ending remark by John.

I will give it to you in a nut shell Christ was informing the followers that if they were not willing to eat His flesh and drink His blood they were not His disciples.

Do you think that those who put the book of John together just happened to put this remark in chapter 6 verse 66. The mark of the beast will be received by many in the end time and some of them will be Christians.

Maybe I should of asked who inflated the numbers in your original post cause 1,000,000 people a month dieing is rather high. That is why I questioned your post but all you have is snide remarks!
