Could the Roman Catholic Church's sex abuse crisis be tied to embedded Satanic and occult imagery in its artwork - some of it hundred's of years old?
That is the seemingly incredible thesis of a new documentary, "Rape of the Soul," made not by anti-Catholic bigots, but by devout followers of the Church.
Rape of the Soul is in theatrical release in major cities, including New York and Los Angeles.
The documentary explores the prevalent use of satanic, sexual, and occult and anti-Catholic images in historical and contemporary religious artwork. The film also discusses the acceptance of the artwork at the highest and most trusted levels of the Catholic Church...
..."Artists from DaVinci to Botticelli have imbedded subliminal images into their art for centuries, said Calace...In this case we found penises on crucifixes, anarchy symbols, swastikas, demonic faces and in modern works even the word 'sex' encrypted into the images.
The works in question include modern artists' work currently on the covers of missalettes and hymnals that at this very moment sit in the pews of churches throughout the U.S. and on children's teaching aids."

Who said that there was a conspiracy? I know, just pop something out there that no one has said in the first place and then use that false statement as a tool.
What are you yammering about?
Many Catholics bow to images of Mary and revere what the image of Mary represents.
The New Testament condemns this behavior, and the Early Church Fathers considered this to be paying homage to accursed spirits and demons.
That is within the OT. The New Testament, the New Covenant that we are commanded to live by, forbids this behavior.
The Apostles condemned this behavior.
The ECF's did as well.
Sure...Some Catholics think a Protestant can get saved...Some Catholics don't...Some Catholics like pickels on their P&B sandwiches and some like mustard on their ice cream...Yer working hard to dissect this thing...
Yes there seems to be a little more reading you need to do to understand Catholic Theology. I will tell you this it is a little more than one can read on a bumper sticker.
Well good...You then, know the position of your church...It's a matter of history that many popes as well as the church claimed there was no salvation outside the church...And we don't need to dissect a paragraph to understand that...Thousands, if not millions of non-catholic christians were murdered and their bibles burned for refusing to become catholic, in the old days...
At Vatican 2, they changed the wording a bit even tho the two sites I pointed you to say it's practically the same ole game...
So tell us, what is the official position of the Catholic church regarding the Salvation of Protestant Christians who do not accept the Catholic church as the 'one and only' church???? Not the extremist position one way or another, but the official current position...
A better terminolgy for the behavior of Catholics on here who engaged in put downs, name-calling, and belittling of others would be unChristlike, more than not acting like children of God, although both are fitting in thie case here concerning what has transpired on this thread.
The Apostles and the ECF's would condemn paying hyperdulia to Mary were they around today.
Their writings in the New Testament and later on(which I have quoted at the beginning of this thread) confirm this.
Now I'm done.
Adios.
I promise that it will be worth it.
K, Mister "Bible Only", where in the New Testament is "this behavior" "forbidden"?
Where do the Apostles "condemn" this behavior?
What are the ECF's?
To whomever it may concern: knock off the personal attacks!
Well, I knew this thread was a waste of time when I clicked on it, but it's been interesting what you've revealed about yourself. Thanks for an interesting discussion, and pardon me for laughing in your face. ;-D
For art hundreds of years old to somehow affect child abuser priests implies some sort of conspiracy. Unless the film producers are ludicrously putting forth the idea that merely looking at these paintings subliminally causes child abuse or caused liberal homosexuals to enter the priesthood in order to infiltrate it. I truthfully never considered that. I'm sorry, but it was too ridiculous to consider.
And if lone Satanic artists were imbedding naughty items in their artwork, it doesn't seem to be any big deal unless there was a plan by those inside the church to do so. That is, a conspiracy.
"Canonical" means included in the canon of Scripture; it does not mean "authoritative" or "inspired by God." Documents do not have to be canonical in order to be authoritative.
Clement is a reliable historical source on the issue of apostolic succession because he had personal knowledge of this. Whether or not he believed in the mythical phoenix, as many of the ancients did, is entirely beside the point.
