People love admitting to sins of this type because they really believe that other people, truly bad people (Bush and his spiritual ancestors going back to the slavemasters of the Confederacy), are responsible for them. As for the more commonplace sins that they actually commit (especially sins of the flesh), forget those: they are now redefined as virtues.
