My wife was on my back for kayaks for three years. She says the speed boat is too fast. I told her no 'cause they are nothing more than speed bumps on the lake and generally operated by tree huggers and limp wrists. Finally I relented and got her one. Four days later I got one...and have developed a strange affinity for the color pink! Well, ours are blue... but we really enjoy them. There's nothing quite like a quiet paddle about the lake. Haven't done an Eskimo roll since '89 or so, though... then again, haven't needed to. *\;-)
Have been considering taking a local baidarka construction class. (The baidarkas, Aleutian kayaks, are the most advanced of the native kayaks -- amazingly strong and light, and the most seaworthy.)

Well, ours are yellow and a sort of orange/yellow, which leaves me wondering where this affinity for pink comes from.

By the way, here's a picture of part of the southeast cove of our pond from the west side, in the Fall obviously.
