Baptists aren't pretestants. Protestants resulted from the Reformation; Baptists preceded the Reformation. (Real Baptists don't "do" Ash Wednesday.)

Though Christian history is full of people who, at one time or another, took theological positions that bear some resemblances to modern Baptist beliefs, there is no historic continuity of a community of "Baptists" any earlier than 1600 or so.

Baptists preceded the Reformation that same way that Communists preceded Marx.
