Every formation program in the diocese was handled for decades by the Pastoral Formation Institute or PFI, run until recently by Sister Lauren Hanley, CSJ, whose congregation has its Mother house at Brentwood, NY, in the same diocese. Ugh! That would be the Sisters of St. Joseph, political activists and lovers of ecology. Check out their web site, if you can stomach it.

One of my HS classmates joined this order (they weren't so radical back then) and is now Principal of Sacred Heart Academy in Hempstead. They doffed the habit immediately following the close of VCII.

We are going to be YEARS rooting out this heretical feminist New Age trash . . . it's set its roots deep.
God speed the bishop!

"...the God within..."?
Uh-huh.
I suppose I should genuflect to the good deacon if ever I meet him? (or maybe he'll do it to me?)
Good grief.

The Sisters of St. Joseph in Philadelphia have also gone off the deep end.
They recently opened a Center for Eco-spirituality (???) and it seems that their primary charism now is "caring for the Earth".
I grew up in Philly and was blessed to have had the sisters teach me the Faith. They were rock solid back then, and more concerned with saving our little souls than with celebrating "eco-spirituality".

Grew up in the Diocese of Rockville Centre attending St. Joseph's in Garden City. The Sisters were basically OK back then...although that was some time ago.
