Missionary to the Philippines. Missionary to Vietnam in 1732. Spent nine years in prison for his faith during which he converted fellow prisoners and supervised evangelists on the outside. Beheaded in 1744 in Checo, Vietnam. One of the Martyrs of Vietnam. Saint Vincent of Digne Saint Vincent of Saragossa Friend of Saint Valerius of Saragossa in Spain, and served as his deacon. Imprisoned and tortured in Valencia, some of it by burning on a gridiron, for his faith. Converted the jailer. Was finally offered release if he would give up the sacred texts to the fire, but he refused. Martyred c.304 at Valencia during the persecutions of Diocletian.
Saint Vincent Pallotti Saint Walter of Himmerode Saint William Joseph Chaminade Saint William Patenson Studied at Reims, France. Ordained in 1587. Returned to England in 1588 to minister covertly to Catholics. Arrested in 1591, he was condemned to death for the crime of priesthood. While in awaiting his execution, he ministered to other prisoners, and converted some of them to Catholicism. Hanged, drawn, and quartered in 1592 at Tyburn, England. |
