There is pretty good evidence based upon the oldest text in existence, that there has been little change in text, and even less change in anything doctrinal in the New Testament.

The Old Testament has remained very pure thanks to the scribes of the Jews, and based upon evidence contained in the dead sea scrolls, and records found in Quamran...but I'm sure you know that story.

This reminds me of a Joke I heard about a Monk who was asked to go and check the current translation with the oldest available texts. Later he was found bashing his head in to the wall and crying profusely.

When asked if there was a mistake, her replied just one, we missed an "R" The word was supposed to be celebrate!
