You'd think some people could put aside their bias for a situation like this.

Actually, the New Testament requires Christians to point out false teachers and false teaching with rigor. We are not "even to share a meal with such". Stating Mormon facts is not bias, it's something that the Lord and Paul and Peter etc., require of me.
But perhaps I need to forgive all the Mormons I have known for their passionate ignorance and desire to deceive as they tried to proselytize me.
It was a deep wound that helped me in the long run to be scrupulous where Christian doctrine is concerned.
