Nobody's attacking anyone. It's an exchange of ideas. That's what this place is all about.

Considering your choice of a thread for your 'exchange of ideas', you might want to head over to the thread about the trapped West Virginia coal miners and castigate them for being stupid because they're miners.

Which Bible are you talking about? the King James version? or the myriad of other versions IE:Contemporary English Version, English Standard Version, God's Word, Good News Translation, Holman Christian Standard Bible, International Standard Version, New American Bible, New American Standard Bible, New Century Version, New English Translation, New International Version,New Jerusalem Bible, New Living Translation, New Revised Standard Version, Revised English Bible, Today's New International Version, The Message? In addition to these different translations there are also different versions of the Bible containing different numbers of books.

Why all the different versions of the bible? The answer is simple, there is disagreement over which books to be included. (Interesting note,"Up until the 1880’s every Protestant Bible (not just Catholic Bibles) had 80 books, not 66!") The original meaning of the word bible is library, which was a reference to the fact that it was to be a collection of sacred texts. If you were to study the history of the Bible you will find mortal men making decisions as to what to include and what not to include and even where to place them.(Most bible scholars agree that the book of Revelations with its famous warning about not adding to this book was in fact written prior to several of the books that proceed it in placement in the Bible)

Just for grins here are just some of the scriptures that are referred to in the Bible itself that aren't in any of the current versions of the Bible.
The Book of the Wars of Yahweh-Numbers 21:14,
The Book of Jashar-Joshua 10:12-13;2 Samuel 1:19-27,
The Acts of Solomon-1 Kings 11:41,
Prophesy of Ahijah the Shilonite-2 Chronicles 9:29
Paul’s letter to the Laodiceans- Colossians 4:16,
Paul’s previous Corinthian letter- 1 Corinthians 5:9.
This is not meant to question the Bible as the word of G-D, But it does tend to place into doubt the statement that the Bible is the sole source of the word of G-D!

The Jesus of the Mormons is another Christ. The true Christ warned that there would be many other Christs and not to follow them. The Mormon "Christ" is a man who worked his way up to being a God. He is not the God of the Bible who always has been and forever will be the only true God. He is supposedly just the "God" of this universe who at this time we are to worship as part of a plan to follow. The true God said that beside Him there is none other. Mormons believe that male Mormons can also work their way up to being a "God" with their own universe and will have many wives with many children and will then be worshiped as God of that universe. They will become a Christ themselves of their won universe. They have swallowed the oldest of lies. It is the lie that Satan told Eve in The Garden of Eden, "...ye shall be as gods". It is the same lie that the New Age movement has swallowed when they believe in the "Christ" within themselves and that they can be like a god. People want to be their own God. The Mormons definitely believe in another "God" with similar borrowed characterizations and names as the true Father, Son and Holy Spirit but not at all with the same essence.

Just what I was about to say.

Lewis argues, extremely convincingly I'd say, that it essentially is THE sin. All other sins are a direct result of it.

Oh Please!!! A different Christ?
From the Book of Mormon, Chap 7 7-14.
"7 For behold, I say unto you there be many things to come; and behold, there is one thing which is of more importance than they all—for behold, the time• is not far distant that the Redeemer liveth and cometh among his people.

8 Behold, I do not say that he will come among us at the time• of his dwelling in his mortal tabernacle; for behold, the Spirit hath not said unto me that this should be the case. Now as to this thing I do not know; but this much I do know, that the Lord God hath power to do all things which are according to his word.

9 But behold, the Spirit hath said this much unto me, saying: Cry unto this people, saying—Repent• ye, and prepare the way of the Lord, and walk in his paths, which are straight; for behold, the kingdom of heaven is at hand, and the Son of God cometh• upon the face of the earth.

10 And behold, he shall be born• of Mary, at Jerusalem• which is the land• of our forefathers, she being a virgin•, a precious and chosen vessel, who shall be overshadowed and conceive• by the power of the Holy Ghost, and bring forth a son, yea, even the Son of God.

11 And he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions• and temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith he will take• upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people.

12 And he will take upon him death, that he may loose• the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor• his people according to their infirmities.

13 Now the Spirit knoweth all things; nevertheless the Son of God suffereth according to the flesh that he might take• upon him the sins of his people, that he might blot out their transgressions according to the power of his deliverance; and now behold, this is the testimony which is in me.

14 Now I say unto you that ye must repent, and be born again; for the Spirit saith if ye are not born again ye cannot inherit the kingdom of heaven; therefore come and be baptized unto repentance, that ye may be washed from your sins, that ye may have faith on the Lamb of God, who taketh away the sins of the world, who is mighty to save and to cleanse from all unrighteousness."
Does that sound like a different Christ? That is the exact same Christ that I have read about and came to love in The Bible. As posted earlier it is always wise to go to the source and not to people who have an agenda against Mormonism.

But your religion says Christ came to America. Ours didn't. So that means two differant Christs.

If you read the truth about Joseph Smith, yes it is hard to hold him in any kind of regard. That is the only problem I have with mormonism. Joseph Smith was a sexual deviant, pervert, whatever. It makes my skin crawl when I think of what he did and claimed was sanctioned by God.

One also states that Christ is Satan's half brother, a seperate and distinct being from God the Father. The other says that Christ is God Himself come in human flesh. This is two different Christs also. It's not the same person.

You're right.

" boast that no man ever did such a work as I." - Joseph Smith

"Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. " - Saul of Tarsus

It's not Christian by any stretch of the imagination. Dave Hunt sees it as a modified Masonry.

"They teach that if you don't have works you probably are not a follower and do not accept the blood sacrifice that was willingly given for you anyway."

hmmm.... Perhaps the perpetrator was someone with whom they had argued religious differences? Maybe he didn't appreciate their message.

It's been my experience that the fasted way to start a fight in a bar is to discuss politics or religion. There will always be someone who violently disagrees with whatever your beliefs may be.

"You're pushing your luck."

You are threatening people? Just what kind of Christian are you? Astounding how intolerant some people are when it comes to religion.

Are there any further updates on the crime? I don't see any mention of it on other conservative websites.
