Yes, that is a great passage to highlight. You will note that the verse that contains that line: "...so that they might obtain a better resurrection..." is included in every one of the liturgical readings from Hebrews 11 that I mentioned. I don't think that this is any accident.

Orthodox tradition is that it was the Prophet Isaiah who was sawn in two with a wooden saw by orders of the King Mannasas. Knowing this brings extra poignance to the very moving and repentant Prayer of Manasses found in the LXX of the Old Testament, which is read each time Great Compline is served in the Orthodox Church. This is appointed to be served on weekdays during Great Lent and on the Eves of Nativity and Theophany.

Another staple of Great Compline is that each time, the text from Isaiah is sung: "For unto us a child is born...etc... the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace...etc... -- and after each verse the choir sings the refrain "For God is with us."

The beautiful and lengthy Synaxarion reading on the life of the Prophet Isaiah ends with this passage:

"Having thus proclaimed the Good News under a lightly-veiled form, the holy Prophet Isaiah was rightly called the 'fifth evangelist', and his book remains one of the principal sources of our faith and our hope." It is, incidentally, read daily during the week-days of Great Lent at the service of the 6th Hour.

Orthodox tradition is that the Prophet Jeremiah was stoned by his fellow countrymen.

Having the people of Israel -- particularly the official leadership -- reject the faith taught by the prophets and actually kill the holy prophets of God was nothing new at all, as Christ pointed out to the Pharisees (much to their displeasure.)
