You want us to "step beyond our points" into what?

The Transcendent.

There is only gratitude in this "system" because…

I'm sorry, I just can't see it. I don't mean to be harsh, but if I must explain further: to me it makes God out to be a creator of trash. It's most difficult for me to be grateful for my Creator in this theology.

I want to make it very clear I'm not ruling out grateful Calvinists. I'm saying I, personally, cannot see it in this system's view. I am sure there must be those who can.

Scripture is filled with truths…

Yes it is. And the universe is suffused with Truth.

that are worth understanding.

I think this is where we would disconnect a bit. I believe that, in Calvinism, "understanding" means more of an intellectual or logical understanding. I'd prefer the term "knowing" and define it as more than this.

Perhaps you need more theology, not less.

I think we shouldn't confuse theology with knowing God or with Christ or with Christianity.

thanks again for your reply.

YOU: The Transcendent.

Ahhh... Now I see where you're coming from.

"Transcendent philosophical traditions reveal that true power is sourced within, is ever-renewable through the grace of God, and is activated through human dedication to whole-centered rather than self-centered goals." -- from "The Healing of America" by Marianne Williamson
