Hmmmm. So if he'd done it right and proper and divorced his wife, and then got himself properly civil-partnershiped with what's-his-name, it would have been OK?

NOT! Robinson could have been kickin' it with another woman.... It would not have mattered if Robinson had been divorced. The church still considers extramarital relations to be SIN - yes ADULTERY! Canonically speaking that is grounds for defrocking. Robinson could have been homosexual but celibate. But ECUSA doesn't give a cr*ap about canons - they just change them to suit the times.
