A day after he pulled into town, the Rev. Marek Bozek, the new pastor of St. Stanislaus Kostka church, introduced himself to the St. Louis media. Literally.
Minutes before a news conference at the church hall Wednesday, Bozek walked around the room and shook hands with every reporter, photographer and cameraman.
Bozek plans to celebrate his first Mass as St. Stanislaus' pastor on Christmas Eve. He has been declared excommunicated, along with the six members of the church board, by St. Louis Archbishop Raymond Burke.
His voice breaking with nerves, Bozek read a statement saying that he had received more than 200 letters, from both supporters and opponents. There is such a thing as bad bishops.
Prudence would dictate that their website may not be the complete story - the full truth of the matter.
There is such a thing as bad bishops.
While this statement is certainly true, one cannot honestly presume or suggest that it applies in the issue at St Stanislaus.
Learn something yourself Ace, a priest does not determine if his Bishop is "bad" or not and then act on his personal feelings. He obeys, and then contests the Bishops ruling according to the precepts set down in canon law.
My prayers are with this parish.
When I was growing up I was told it is a mortal sin not to go to Mass on Sunday. Now these parishioners are being told it is a mortal sin if they go to Mass on Sunday.
Figure?
Hint: St. Louis has many Catholic Parishes, staffed by priests incardinated in the Archdiocese of St. Louis, who will be offering the Mass, licitly, multiple times each Sunday.
St. Stanislaus Kostka Polish Cultural Center simply is not one of them.
If the shoe fits...
Link to Google cache of Fr.'s bio and homilies. Please read the November 6, 2005 homily and tell me that's not heresy.
I live in the Archdiocese of StL, and most of the people of St. Stanislaus live in the 'burbs and go to church, raise their kids, etc., somewhere else. They are NOT being deprived of the sacraments.
