[And while we're on about returning Anglican blogs... --sionnsar]

A New Blog From a Familiar Source...
a worker in the vineyard

It is with great pleasure that I announce the return of my good friend, Father Taylor Marshall, to the blogging world. Many of you might remember his Ecclesia Anglicana. He now presents to you Canterbury Tales.

Expect good things to come...

"Shine, Jesus Shine"? Never heard of it.

Is it one of those tunes that our choirmaster refers to, with contempt dripping off his tongue, as "praise music"? The one kind of stuff our choir never sings? We do Gospel, we do Bach Chorales, we do Palestrina and Tallis, we do motets, we do some contemporary stuff, we sing in English, Spanish, and Latin. But not whatever "praise music" is, apparently.

Then you're partway to Anglo-Catholic Heaven already. I, sadly, have much further to go...

I believe so.

Yes it is - funny thing was I was first exposed to that music when I joined a contemporary Episcopalian church locally...(me not having any idea at the time what was going on between traditional and "progressives") - I kept asking them "why arent we singing the OLD music"...

Interestingly enough, our choirmaster is about 24 or 25. He's gotten his MS in Music from Roosevelt University in Chicago and now teaches there. His father was just ordained a priest in the ECUSA.
