I don't think I've seen so many posts removed by the moderators before... You should've seen the Westerfield trial threads.
It got so bad that they added the 'Smokey Backroom' just to keep the flamewars from wiping out Breaking News.

Sounds like more glorifying of gnostic forgeries designed to steal Christians into the gnostic heresy.
Exactly -- just like the Da Vinci code -- the problem is that we who've read a "little bit" about early Christian heresies would not be affected by this (and note, that's just me, I'm not sure of your knowledge about this, but I'm guessing it's more than mine), but those who've not had any of these teachings could be easily swayed..

Of course we are dealing with our limited human ability to understand.
true -- the way I understand it is that God KNOWS all and sees all, but for some reason, only known to Him, He prefers not to treat us as mindless puppets, but allows us to disobey Him. Why? I have no idea, if I was in such a position I wouldn't do that, but then I'm a mortal and that show's how little we can perceive compared to our boundaryless God.

The judgment of Jesus Christ by Pontious Pilate is irrelevant in the history of mankind. The judgment of the Father was eternally ordained. The death of Christ on the Cross is purely the plan of God. Those who seek to interpret the Crucifixion as anything manmade merely look at the world with a soulish perspective and lack the spirit to comprehend its significance. All the surrounding chaos, simply acts as an eternal memorial to the incompetance of evil in the face of Divine Holiness, Righteousness and Judgment.

Some believe this opportunity to disobey God is simply the consequence of our being created beings with volition,..after the Fall in the Garden as being condemned prior to salvation. We then serve a much more improtant role in settling the conflict between good and evil within the angelic conflict.
Sin has already been resolved by the judgment of our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus on the Cross. Evil must be reolved in time, not merely in a moment of thinking in our prayers of repentence and confession to our Lord.

The most telling of all the 'documentary' presentation of the 'Gospel of Judas' has been a glaring lack of any reborn spirit in those purporting to provide this 'revelatory gospel'. All the rationalism in the world lies impotent to the faith of a reborn believer with a living spirit. For the living spirit, such worldly fabrications are blatentnly exposed by their impotence and dead spirit.

I once proposed to a Bible study class that we are each guilty of the same sin as Judas
I would kind of agree with you -- we sinners are in no position to condemn Judas. All we CAN do is use him as an example of what NOT to do -- just as we use saints as examples of what us mortals CAN do.

How is Judas' betrayal for silver different from Peter's denial to save his own skin?
I guess it's because Peter realised his mistake and made amends for the rest of his life to try and atone for that mistake. Just that perhaps, repentence. Judas, as far as we know, thought that there was no hope for repentence, that he could just escape by killing himself.

No one denies that God knows ALL and sees ALL. However, we argue by the very fact that we argue, that God allows us to choose or not to. Why? I dunno, it's something we can't fathom. However, He does allow us to fall away or to repent.

Never guess I've more knowledge on these things than you :) I do my best, but I'm still ignorant on much. :(
Still your point rings true, those with an ancillary knowledge (or in these times even less) can fall into a trap deliberatly set by this author who is as perfect an example of the wolves the apostles mentioned as there's ever been.
