Leibrecht wrote, "Father Marek Bozek has gone from ordination to excommunication in three short years. This descent has taken place because he has not remained a man of his word. On ordination day, he promised publicly before all assembled that he would give his life to the people of southern Missouri in full cooperation with his bishop. That has not happened. Instead, division and schism in the Church has taken place."
Bishop Leibrecht, this man should have never been ordained. I would like to know why he was.
On a side note, Bishop Leibrecht celebrated his 75th birthday on Aug 8, 2005 source
He is close to retirement.
Leibrecht said Burke called him Thursday night to tell the Springfield bishop of the [excommunication] decision.
"I'm not a party to this," said Leibrecht,
Right on! I have similar questions: why was he recruited in the first place? How was it that he learned of the need for priests in the Springfield/Cape Girardeau diocese and within two weeks was on a plane here?
The quotes from Bozek in the Springfield News-Leader indicate that after all his training, he has an abysmal understanding of the meaning of the sacred priesthood itself.
The following was written by Rev. David Hulshof, who serves the Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau as director of seminary students, in an article published December 30, 2005 titled Bozek responsible for rifts in church.
"Five years ago, Father Marek was looking for a diocese that would sponsor him in his desire to be a priest, and we responded.
After receiving letters of recommendation from Poland, we provided for Father Marek's language and theology studies."
Maybe someone else is asking why ...
