Our parish is holding a Christmas Novena that began tonight and ends on December 23. This is a beautiful devotion! Here are some extracts from ours.

Christmas Novena

According to the Antiochene Syriac Maronite Church

(The Celebrant Brings Out, Exhibits And Incenses The Blessed Sacrament While The Congregation Kneel And Sing)

Glory to the Word our God made man
God’s most wondrous work has been achieved
Him our eyes have seen, our ears have heard
Him our hands have touched and mouts received.

Praise ye, heart and mind, praise Him, the Lord
Who came to this world to redeem mankind
Mary conceived Him a silent Child;
Though He grants all men the speech talent.

Joseph had held Him as newborn Babe.
Though He is eternal mighty and old;
Yet He is an infant. He is all perfect.
In Him are hidden wisdom’s treasures.

(After The Incense, The Celebrant Kneels and Reads The Following Prayers Corresponding To The Appropriate Day of the Novena.)

FIRST ORATION: O Beautiful One in splendor, fairer than all children, in Your inexplicable love for us, You have been pleased to become a man, to show us the invisible beauty of Your Divinity in the splendor of Your countenance, in the body which You have taken from the Virgin Mary. In this way, You have attracted all people to Your Divine Love, You Beloved of the Father and the Only Delight of His heart. We beseech You through Your pure nativity and through the intercession of Your Virgin Mother and St. Joseph, Your chosen one, kindle Your love in our hearts and enlighten our minds with the rays of Your heavenly grace, that we may love You with our whole heart and mind, that we may love all people in You and for You. For You alone are worthy of the love of all hearts. To You be glory, forever.

CONGREGATION: Amen

Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory be ....

CONCLUDING PRAYER

We have offered You, O Admirable Child, the only begotten Son of God, the aroma of our incense, the desires of our hearts, the submission of our souls, the adoring reverence of our bodies, and the invocations of our lips. Grant us that this may be a worthy preparation for Your pure Nativity. May the Holy Day of Christmas find You willing to dwell in us through the sacrament of Your Sacred Body and Blood, as You have dwelt in the Womb of Your Mother. May we be enlightened by the Instruction of Your Holy Angels as were the meek shepherds. May we give You a truly Spiritual Adoration as did the blessed Magi when we offer You not gold, frankincense and myrrh, but faith, hope and warm love. May these virtues flame in our souls and bring forth good acts pleasing to Your will. To You and to the Blessed Father and to Your Holy Spirit, we offer glory and honor, now and forever.

RESPONSE: Amen.

NYer; that's a very nice devotion.

Just out of curiosity, are y'all fasting during advent?
