"...or as a being of such glory that you would be sorely tempted to worship him or her. The glorification of the saints of God by God is not a trifling matter."

I am familiar with that quote. What my deep concern revolves around is what I see as the changing and expanding role of Mary in Catholic theology. Mary seem to be slowly taken on the characteristics of a "god" and I would be glad to share some examples with you if you are interested.

I can understand becoming focused on a Biblical figure. Many Protestants honor Paul to a high degree. Some even unwittingly sideline Johnnian or Petrine theology by their focus of Paul. But Paul, for all his exaltation, remains the Paul of the Bible. The Mary of Catholic theology seems to me to bear little resemblance to the handmaiden of the Gospel.

I don't see any "changing and expanding role of Mary in Catholic theology," sorry.

The concept of Mary taking on "the characteristics of a 'god'" doesn't compute with me, and I think it ought not to compute with you, either. There are no "gods"; there is only One. (I'm thinking Thomistically, here: nobody else has "necessary" existence, Mary is as much a "contingent" being as you are, or I am.)

The beings pagans call "gods" are either fables or demons, without exception.

Her glory is infinitely greater; her obedience, the same.

That's what God did for her.
