You've posted a scathing critique of the Church in the centuries immediatley prior to the Protestant Reformation. I appreciate seeing this, however, I think this footnote speakes volumes. Also, the state of the Church outside of Germany and Rome is not treated in the article. For example, the article does not mention the situation of the Church in Greece, Spain, and Ireland, three Christian countries where the Protestant Reformation won little indigenous support.
