Dolan insisted there was no connection between the seminary's evaluation and Schneider's resignation. Which is to say that it is possible if such an evaluation wasn't taking place, nor would the resignation.

I took a Pastoral "mal" Formation classes from a priest who taught at this seminary. For every 5 minutes that was spent on actual Church teaching- with much eye rolling- another 30 minutes was spent on the teachings of dissident theologians. I had to walk out. If he is anything like this other priest was - good riddance.
A few years back there was a news story about a layman who enrolled in this seminary for a theology degree. After taking a few classes he withdrew because he was shocked at what was being taught and the materials used, (texts with graphic illustrations of all sexual acts including homosexual acts for the class on sexual morality is one example of the charges that I can remember). He ended up suing the diocese in the secular courts for the return of his tuition money. His argument was that the seminary failed to honor the contract to teach Catholic theology. I never heard what the results of the law suit were.

He said Msgr. Robert Emmet Fagan would become interim rector. Oh, and by the way...Msgr. Robert Emmet Fagan is an older priest who I had much respect for at one point. He filled in after the pastor of my former parish died. What caused me to lose my respect you ask? He is the priest who scolded parishioners, from the altar during mass (myself and family included) for NOT CLAPPING - during that ridiculous version of the Gloria (Gloria - clap clap - Gloria - clap clap)
During a funeral he also invited any non Catholics present to receive Holy Communion provided that they "really believed". There was no concern whether anyone of them, including the Catholics were properly disposed.

I just want to remind everybody that last time I checked, "slander" and "detraction" are still sins.
Slander is a false or possibly false statement which damages a person's reputation; and
detraction is a statement, EVEN IF TRUE, which damages a person's reputation, if there was not sufficiently grave reason to reveal the person's fault.
Let me recommend Aquinas onthe subject:

Caught'em red-handed, red-faced and gave Msgr. Francis Schneider the opportunity to resign.
The "homosexual subculture" (and there IS one. Perry Mason was a homosexual and his network was amazingly large, well organized, well-to-do, well-placed and underground....a VERY well-kept secret) will moveon.org to greener pastures. Heterosexual priests and nuns who are bright stars (in the brainbox department) will resurface. They will be allowed to flourish again.
This was just ONE of the morality battles within the Church.
Team Jesus - 1
Team Satan - 0
Thank you, Coach Benedict (A.K.A., with love, the PanzerPope).

He too will fade away, like a stinker-bomb movie.

during that ridiculous version of the Gloria (Gloria - clap clap - Gloria - clap clap), I heard that excressence ONE time, during my stay in the DDR. It was too wierd even for Richmond ... apparently the "Minister of Music" caught so much flak from the parishoners that she exercised the better part of valour and switched to a less unreasonable version.

She still has not called me back but we both have known some of the 'bad' defrocked priests and she is always honest when she says "there was something about him, I am not surprised" so I too am looking forward to her opinion on this matter : )

Scoop from MOM in Law:
Consider the source, Newsday, one of the most anti- catholic newspapers in the country that constantly lets Jimmy Breslin spew his bile.
Father Francis is a wonderful man and this year was unusual because he has 12 students as opposed to 1 or 2 in prior years. He is active in his parish, my aunts parish and she is even friendlier with Father Francis. Both said they have no feeling whatsoever to believe he is gay or otherwise, he is a good man very active in his religion and honest. She is disappointed in Newsdays insinuations but not surprised. If anything he became overwhelmed with the 12 new seminarians and the audit just made the stress factor higher. Father Francis is the type to do whatever is asked of him and perhaps it became too much. She said she adores him and trusts him.

Well, well, well.
I take back all the nasties I said about Father Francis. He went from two to TWELVE seminarians? An audit? I can understand the sense being overwhelmed. I can understand the stress.
He also might have a physical illness that has taken its toll.
My money is on your mother-in-law's gut feeling.
Thanks for sharing her viewpoint.
