October 17, 2005 -- Several Anglican primates, including Archbishop Peter J. Akinola of Nigeria, will speak at Hope and a Future, the Anglican Communion Networks first international conference, on Nov. 10-12 in Pittsburgh.
Akinola, archbishop of the 18 million-member Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), will speak on his province as a missionary church. For several years, the Nigerian church has commissioned missionary bishops to plant new churches in impoverished and hostile territory.
The conference also will hear plenary addresses from bestselling author and pastor Rick Warren and evangelist Anne Graham Lotz.
Other Anglican speakers at the conference include Archbishops Datuk Yong Ping Chung (the Province of South East Asia), Drexel Gomez (West Indies), Emmanuel Kolini (Rwanda), Bernard Malango (Central Africa), Donald Mtetemela (Tanzania), Benjamin Nzimbi (Kenya), Henry Orombi (Uganda); Bishop Keith Ackerman of the Diocese of Quincy (Illinois); and Baroness Caroline Cox and the Rev. Dr. Michael Green of Great Britain.
