If the proposal had been met with displeasure by the Synod Fathers, I get the impression Mr. Allen would have let us know that. The absence of such comments indicates either infiference or support. I suggest indifference.
"Indifference" is not what I expect from Synod Fathers after Pope Benedict's opening address to them about "the removal of the Lampstand." But they are men like the apostles who, all but one, fled from the Crucified Lord leaving Mary, Mary Magdalene, and the women alone but steadfast with Him.
