Well, when the divorce rate among Christians begins to go below that of the national per capita average, maybe there will be some hope.

The divorce rate among Christians will never again be below that of nonbelievers and will continue to grow larger percentage wise. There are two reasons for this. Not everyone who calls himself a Christian is in fact a Christian.

Also, while marriage rates have only slightly declined among Christians, marriage is rapidly becoming passe' to the rest of the world.

The actual number or percentage of divorces is irrelevant.

Christians should not divorce anyway if the church is doing its job.

What has happened in 50 years to corrupt Christiandom? From a 1 percent divorce rate to the now roughly 50%, we are permitting something to occur in alarming proportions.

Look at your own churches. Do you know any "Christians" who are divorced there? Perhaps you may know of "Christian" family members who have divorced.

Why do our churches permit this?

I've heard people counsel others saying it's alright to divorce because "God wants us to be happy". This is never mentioned in Scripture, though.

When was the last time you heard a sermon on the topic of divorce, adultery, and remarriage? It is so common yet so sensitive a subject that it is the elephant in the room no one will acknowledge.

This to the demise of God and His people.
