Actually, that is not a cause and effect: Leftists approve of LEFTIST judicial activism, such as being in favor of abortion and gay marriage. They are not about to be in favor of something such a flat tax or declaring any so-called "campaign finance reforms" unconstitutional.
To not understand that when just and moral, regulatory change can lead to advantageous cultural change is to ignore and deny history.
The critical issue here is not the form of change (regulatory, climate, technology or language driven, etc.) but the intent, purpose and foundation of that change. It's like the stupid concept of increased penalties for "hate crimes." If someone is murdered, they are just as dead, regardless if they were killed for their wallet or their race.
Look at the effect and "work the problem backward."
