September 16, 2005 (from the Church Times): In a response to ECUSAs presentation to the Anglican Consultative Council (ACC) in Nottingham and Archbishop Akinolas response to the House of Bishops statement on civil partnerships, Bishop Chane challenged the presumption of a small group of men to speak for the entire global Communion . . .
Quoting Archbishop Akinolas warning to the C of E that No Church can ignore the teaching of the Bible with impunity, and no Church is beyond discipline, he speculated: I must ask myself who has been left with the ultimate authority to interpret the teaching of the Bible? Certainly not the Archbishop of Nigeria alone.
August 5, 2004 (from the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer by way of titusonenine): at least six dioceses have interpreted even the watered-down legislation that eventually passed as a go-ahead to develop services or policies for blessing same-gender couples, saying language in the resolution encouraged formalizing the ceremonies in local parishes.
Several bishops had argued the measure was simply an acknowledgment that some parishes were already conducting the ceremonies, even though the church hadnt settled the question of whether the Bible bans gay sex .
Youre always going to have people who are going to interpret legislation conceivably in a different way, said Bishop John Chane of Washington, D.C., who in June conducted the first ceremony for gay partners using his dioceses new liturgy. To believe that consensus is ultimately the way in which we live in a community of faith really limits the power of the Holy Spirit .
(emphases obviously mine)
Evidently Bishop Chane believes that its fine for the Bishop of Washington (and a few friends) to interpret things alone, but ah, when its someone in Lagos or South America, well thats another matter. You may need consensus, but not I, says the Pope of the Potomac.

Speak the truth in love. Eph 4:15
The passages in the Bible warning against men lying with men are extremely clear. Why does the "Pope of the Potomac" think they are not?
The dimlibs in the Episcopal Church are trying to do the same thing to the Bible that their political counterparts are doing to the Constitution: They want to redefine its meaning in order to help destroy its authority.
The House of Bishops badly needs a housecleaning, starting with Presiding Bishop Frank Griswold. Fish start to rot at the head.

I guess it will never cease to amaze me how little these "bishops" know of the history of The Church and proper ecclesiology. In fact, from this it is apparent that this person doesn't even understand what The Church is, and has been for 2000+ tears. Sad.

Now THERE'S a Freudian slip if ever there was one!
LOL!
