I cannot remember his precise words but he suggested that a lot of what we are seeing is the fruit of a materialistic, me first society, in which dog-eat-dog individualism prevails, and where an impossible gulf exists between the rich and the poor that there is virtually no sense of commonality and community.

Yes, the Europeans are more advanced than we are and have no problem with an underclass because they are not materialistic and they have a sense of commonality and community with their muslim underclass.

The real problem is much easier to identify. The war on poverty created and maintained an underclass. We hide it away in the bad parts of town. Now the ugly truth is right in front of the TV cameras. It makes me uncomfortable to see the monster we have created and it makes me sad when I think of the untold human suffering that is the spawn of what was, perhaps, the most ill-advised governmental initiative in all of American history.

It sucks that the underclass is mostly black. And it sucks that there is even an underclass. It sucks that there are people who are so divorced from the culture of the country they live in that they have virtually no ability to survive except amongst other underclass members in an under-economy fueled by welfare and drugs. It sucks that there is no way to undo the damage done.
