Indeed. +Gregory Nazianzus is one of the greatest of the Fathers. The great antiphon of the Orthodox at Easter, "Christ is risen from the dead! By death trampling down Death and preaching Life to those in the tombs!", expresses the ultimate Orthodox Christian theology and belief and the paradox of theosis, true and eternal Life from Death in the Pit. This is the culmination of the miracle of the Incarnation whereby God became Man so that Man might become like God...not simply a better Man, not simply "affirmed" in our chosen "lifestyles" here in this finite existence, but rather to abide with God and be like God in eternity!
Bump, and thanks for early morning inspiration.
I like his mother, too. I wish someone would say about me what he said about his mother, but in my case, it wouldn't be true!
So good to have your presence on FR again. Without you and agrarian, the Orthodox-Catholic discussions have reminded me a bit of Somalia and now New Orleans. I've really missed you guys!
