The New York Times today has a piece on religious podcasting that is worth a read. I had heard of podcasting (or in this case, Godcasting) before it is basically a way of creating your own internet radio show and making it downloadable (is that a word?) to your iPod or computer (you need some form of MP3 player, such as iTunes or Quicktime). I even toyed (and continue to toy) with the idea of somehow putting a simple version of the Daily Office on the internet via podcasting.
Then I realized that others may well have thought the same and gotten into the game ahead of me. There are by now hundreds of religious podcasts out there, so I went to Google (of course) and typed in podcast daily office book common prayer anglican or some such (I dont remember precisely) and behold! I found the following link (click here).
I dont know who these folks are, and the download can be pretty slow, depending of course on the speed of your connection. Ive only listened to one entry thus far, but it shows the possibilities for even those with only limited means and technical skills.
So check it out and let me know what you think. The possibilities are huge.
Update: the podcasts are originating from St. Anthony of Padua Episcopal Church, a well-known Anglo-Catholic parish in New Jersey connected with the Anglican Communion Network and Forward in Faith.
Did you get your own radio show, Laz?
LOL, I like eVangelist!
www.catholicinsider.com has been doing this for quite a while. It's an interesting Podcast for Catholics and Non Catholics. There is a whole list at Podcast alley which includes many Protestant shows also.
