Prayers joined. How I have been blessed through the posts of Askel5 and Romulus since my earliest days at this forum. Each of them has been gracious enough to offer me a well-timed word of encouragement in the Faith now and again. I pray that each of them be blessed, at this moment of peril and always, with every good and perfect gift according to the will of the Giver of all such gifts. May their families and loved ones alike receive also such graces as are needed at this time.

The Motherhouse for the Sisters Of Mt Carmel (my sister's order) so many spiritual family members for most of my life, is on the lake (virtually within blocks).
It is used mostly as their retirement home now ... I don't think they have left in the past and my sister is now working for the Lay Carmelites at the National Shrine in Darien, Ill.
She should NOT BE down south, but took an unexplained "trip" -- destination unknown, on Friday.

Askel5 & Romulus, while you are usually in my thoughts and prayers, you have been in my thoughts and prayers especially since I heard Katrina was headed directly for New Orleans. I pray that the two of you will be safe and survive unscathed by Katrina.

Dearest friend, I have been praying for the Carmelites on the lake all night and all day, and I am praying for your sister that she is safe and sound. May the peace of the Child Jesus attend your heart.

May God calm the skies and seas for all our friends in the Gulf Coast States. Amen.

May our great and mighty God be with His children through this storm and use this storm to bring those He has claimed into the family of God.
May God motivate His children to be effective witnesses for Christ through this turmoil and employ His sheep to care for the sick, aid the helpless, feed the hungry and give comfort to the grieving.

Have heard from my brother--actually, he called Mom and she called me. Lost a couple of windows on his house; water has overtaken his Explorer outside and there is some water in the first floor of the house (he lives in a two story). He is not hurt.
I guess the Divine Mercy chaplets I prayed all last night and this am paid off!

Oh Praise God! The DIVINE MERCY CHAPLET always pays off! They've got a long way to recover. My next Chaplet will be in thanksgiving for this good news and in prayer for all those needing help now and in the time to rebuild.
And bless your sweet heart for letting me know the news.

Thanks! I am worried that because the water was still rising when he called Mom, it may get a bit worse, but I am thankful that he is okay physcially. Now I hope the looters leave his area alone!
Thanks for your prayers and I am going to continue prayers for all those I know in that area and for all residents affected by the storm. I went through a hurricane in September 1998 (Georges) in Puerto Rico, and having no power, limited supplies, and hot weather takes its toll so fast...

Looters are the worst vermin on earth. I will pray for divine protection and for the looters to be incapacitated.

Amen to that! I am not sure, but I think that my brother is properly armed (not sure what the laws are down there, but it's martial law now anyway, so who knows). He's already lost his car, and with the waters rising, his house is still in danger, so I don't think he's going to be too tolerant of intruders!

You like us; you really, like us!
Thanks from the bottom of my heart for your prayers and concern. I am safe, as are all my family. We all evacuated Sunday. I brought icons, a gun, family pictures, my cat and dog, and the clothes on my back. Not much more. I expect my home and office to be flooded, as of this morning, and don't know when I'll be allowed to return.
I have been inconvenienced, to say the least, but am not suffering like many innocents who're in the midst of it now. Please remember them in your prayers.
I have no news of Askel, but because she had plans to be out of town anyway, I have good hopes that she did not return to the city on Sunday, and may be staying with family elsewhere.
I am grateful to all of you. Please forgive me if I've overlooked anyone.

Annalex, I'll take you up on that care package. Send a large generator, 1,000 gallons of diesel, a small boat with outboard motor, 250 gallons drinking water, white coleman gas, batteries (assorted sizes), mosquito repellant, and about 50 changes of underwear and socks. I'll send a supplemental list when I have time to think it over.
God bless you all.
