Continue your prayers! 80%+ of the city of New Orleans is flooded now. God save them!
I posted this on the prayer thread, fatima
Actually the information I have is that the levee break happened on the 17th street canal where the new bridge (old hammond highway?) was just built. I have a sneaking suspicion that the bridge construction compromised the integrity of the levee there. Last night all the info I had was that Lake Vista (AKA the bird streets) were dry but below Robert E. Lee (Lakeview etc) were flooding from the breech. Until very recently, Old Metairie was dry. Just saw a post on one of the NO boards (NOLA or WWLTV can't remember) from a guy who parents were in their house on Farnham in Country Club Gardens - dry until this AM - and the water is now coming up into the houses there including Northline, even though supposedly the breech happened on the Orleans side of 17 st. canal. Cemeteries, of course, are now flooded. Damn. I thought our property had made it. But with water continuing to rise (an inch an hour), it isn't likely. The gutwrenching frustration not being able to know what's going on there is absolutely excruciating.
