I don't see anything on Saddleback's website that specifically identifies them as Southern Baptist. It wouldn't surprise me if Warren leaves the fold. I'm surprise he hasn't already.

Somewhere I read about Warren establishing PDL churches all over the world. This begs the question why not Southern Baptist churches? I can't help thinking there's a reason for him staying for the time being. Perhaps using the support channels or whatever until the time is ripe to break.

He hasn't made it official yet, kind of like the husband or wife who leaves the relationship emotionally before actually physically moving out.

When I first joined Saddleback in 1998, Rick told us that Saddleback was affiliated with the SBC for organizational purposes, but that the church itself is nondenominational.
As far as I can tell, nothing's changed.

It should be noted this is what Finny and Wesley did with the Presbyterians. Never fully subscribing to their beliefs yet remaining until the time was right. It just doesn't seem kosher.
